Climbing Garden Nixloch
Classic climbing garden around the well-known Nixloch cave (popular hiking destination accessible on marked path). The massif faces southwest and is divided into the left, lower wall area (Wendbach area) with wall heights of up to 70 metres and the lower, right part near the cave (approx. 40 metres wall height). Vertical wall climbing on water-eaten, compact slabs dominates. Roof climbing in the lower 10th degree of difficulty is offered by the route Pharao on the left edge of the cave. All routes are now very well secured, and solid abseil points have been drilled almost everywhere.
118 routes from 3 to 10- (8 - 70 metres)

In sections, excellent, clefty and finely structured limestone. Sometimes somewhat alpine-like wall sections with not quite too reliable and overgrown passages.
Best time of day/year
Spring and autumn, in summer sun from about 11:00, in high winter too cold due to low sun and trees at the base of the wall.
In the upper section of the wall shady spruce-beech high forest, in the lower part of the wall sunny due to the large areas of trees, unfortunately often quite quickly overgrown, especially on the approach.
Approach (from Losenstein)
To the right (north) past the farmhouse and on the forest road slightly descending towards Wendbach. At the bend to the left, continue straight on (the forest road turns left downhill towards Wendbachtal) and follow the red markings, first steeply uphill, later descending again, to the Nixloch cave. From Hintsteinbauer about 15 minutes.
From Losenstein about 4,5 km | about 10 minutes driving time
It is essential to observe the rules noted at the Hintsteiner car park. In particular, you should be back at the Hintsteiner 1 hour before sunset. Failure to do so may result in the private car park being closed.
