From Hinterstoder train station the trail leads along the 409 to Frauenstein.

After the railroad underpass we cross the Teichl, go past the settlement Helml to the clearing Pernkopf and cross the Vorderen Rettenbach. At the houses of Spering a detour to the natural monument Teufelskirche is possible. Continue past the houses of Traunfried to the Helmlalm. On a gravel road we go along the Klaus reservoir and from the Klaus dam we follow the Steyr downstream to Frauenstein.
