From the parking lot of the Stallburgalm in Küpfern, the hiking trail leads under the viaduct into the valley and up. Passing a hunting lodge, a shrine and after a short detour through the forest you reach the Stallburgalm. Continue on the southern slope of the Weyrer Bögen along the marked hiking trail until you reach the ridge of the Dürrensteigkamm. From there it is only a short distance to the Almkogel (1,513 m) and via the crossing the hike can be extended to the Hühnerkogel (1,474 m).
Trail number: 494
Directions:From the parking lot of the Stallburgalm in Küpfern, the hiking trail leads under the viaduct through into the valley. After a short while the asphalt road ends and on the hiking trail and then on the forest road the trail climbs gently uphill in serpentines. Past a hunting lodge, past a wayside shrine and after a short detour through the forest you reach the Stallburgalm (1,032 m).
Continue along the southern slope of the Weyrer Bögen on the marked hiking trail, initially moderately steep, until you reach the ridge of the Dürrensteigkamm. From there it is only a short distance to the Almkogel (1,513 m) with a magnificent panoramic view.
Via the transition you can still extend the hike to the Hühnerkogel (1,474 m).
Tip:Climate-friendly to the National Park Region - railway station Küpfern, railway station Kastenreith: By train you can reach the starting point for this hike in about 2 hours from Linz and in about 2.5 hours from Vienna.Additional information:
Weyrer Bögen: The hike leads over a part of this geological feature. The mountain range from Gaflenz - Spindeleben and Lindaumauer - to Weyer/Unterlaussa - Bodenwies - does not run from west to east but from north to south. On the ridge between Burgspitz and Almkogel this phenomenon can be seen very well.
