Views of the Enns, which presents itself from refreshingly new perspectives. The selective route appeals also to sporty walkers and trail runners. On hot days, the hike through shady forest sections is a welcome refreshment.
We recommend starting at Dürnbach station; alternatively, Ternberg station is possible.
Depending on condition and fitness, the walking time is between 1.5 and 2.5 hours.
From Dürnbach station, we turn north and go down Dürnbachstraße through the village. After about 5 minutes, we reach an atmospheric chapel. Here we cross the street and immediately afterwards the Dürnbach, which dries up during drought periods.
Along the edge of the bushes, traces of the beaver can be found, which is returning to our river landscapes. Soon the path leads into the forest. Here we can enjoy an impressive view of the Enns in the natural cinema. The path continues to the terrace edge on the Enns, then behind to the bank, and above to the right, the Fallergut farmhouse towers.
Water birds, the natural monument Fallerbucht, species-rich deciduous forests, nutrient-poor meadows, conglomerate blocks, and a varied soundscape make this route a unique natural experience.
Mostly on narrow trails, it goes over roots and stones. A small gravel bank at the mouth of the Bäckengraben invites to rest and play. The path goes a bit into the Bäckengraben before turning right up to the bridge and then continuing to Ternberg station.
Tip:Climate-friendly to the National Park region - Ternberg and Dürnbach station: By train, you will reach the starting point for this hike in about 1 hour from Linz and about 2.5 hours from Vienna.
Safety guidelines:Surefootedness and good footwear required!
