Lots of natural swimming beaches, walking and hiking trails along the crystal clear Steyr River in the nature reserve "Unteres Steyrtal", which extends into the urban area of Steyr.

The valley of the Steyr is characterized by the gravel deposits of the ice ages. Since habitats that have already become rare, such as riparian forests or rough grasslands, still thrive here special and rare plants whose occurrence depends on such site conditions.
