Borsee with the Schleifenbachklause can be reached on foot from below via Schönau and from above via Niglalm/Viehtaleralm and Bärenkogel.
Hiking trail: 498
Directions:From Schönau: The path initially leads gently along the Schleifenbach and gradually becomes a bit steeper uphill to Borsee. In the upper section, the path continues through the romantic gorge with impressive views of the Schleifenbach running up to 100 meters below. From Borsee, the route continues over the Kogleralm (hunting hut) to Bärenkogel and to Niglalm/Viehtaleralm.
From Niglalm: We cross the alpine meadows and ascend a slight uphill path. In early summer, many rare orchids can be found on these meadows. We leave the nearby forest road after a few meters; the signposted hiking trail leads away from the forest road through green forests. After a short ascent, the path gently descends again. Halfway along the way, the hunting hut Kogleralm is reached, and from there it continues over the wild meadow to the northern shore of Borsee. Upon arriving at Borsee, be sure to allow enough time for a circuit and to visit the Schleifenbachklause on the southern shore. Then return by the same path to Niglalm or continue hiking along the forest road by the Schleifenbach back to Schönau.
