The Upper Austrian. Scythe Smithy Museum in Micheldorf is located at the site of the former "Scythe Smithy at Gries" from the 16th century. Micheldorf, with its 15 scythe factories, was the starting point and center of the Austrian scythe industry for centuries. Here, long before the "Industrial Revolution", scythes were already being produced on an industrial scale and exported to the world by the millions. This special forging craft has been a UNESCO Intangible World Heritage Site since 2014.
In order to do justice to this unique heritage, the Scythe Smithy Museum is currently undergoing extensive renovation and redesign.
Due to the ongoing work, interested visitors are always offered exciting glimpses behind the scenes of a museum construction site.
