The Sebaldus Trail stretches over 86 kilometres through the impressive nature of the Enns Valley. It leads to unique places of power, including the only pilgrimage church in Austria dedicated to St Sebaldus. The Heiligenstein is certainly a highlight of the pilgrimage - but there is also a perfect blend of nature, spirituality and tranquillity along the way between rolling hills, dense forests and sweeping views.
The Benedikt-Pilgerrundweg Kremstal is a circular route that leads through the idyllic Upper Austrian Kremstal valley. Opened in spring 2024, the trail starts at the impressive Schlierbach Abbey and leads through picturesque landscapes, including the Wartberger Au. Highlights along the way include the Genuss- und Erlebnishof Mayr, the Magdalenaberg, the spiritual power place Georgenberg and the Grillparz, which rewards you with a breathtaking view over the Kremstal.

The Upper Austrian Benedict Pilgrimage Route connects most of the country's monasteries from Passau to Spital/Pyhrn over a distance of around 300 kilometres.

The Sebaldustour invites cycle pilgrims to discover the impressive nature of the Kalkalpen National Park region and the Eisenwurzen. From Gaflenz and Weyer, seven star-shaped routes lead to spiritual places of power, historic churches and picturesque landscapes. On well-maintained paths, mostly off the beaten track, the tour combines exercise with inner contemplation.
The Path of Mindfulness is a spiritual hiking trail that leads over almost 100 kilometres in five daily stages from the House of Mindfulness in Grünau im Almtal via Steyrling, the Steyr and Kremstal valleys back to the Almtal. This trail invites you to pause, consciously perceive and reflect on nature. Special places and content-related impulses on the topic of mindfulness complement the pilgrimage programme and offer a counter-trend to the constant sensory overload of the digital age.
This new, spiritual hiking trail is a cross-regional project and will be opened in spring 2025.
Walk & Pray - Go & Pray
Starting from the pilgrimage church, discover short walks in the Maria Neustift area, whose paths lead past many chapels and shrines and encourage you to pause and reflect.
The monastery trail connects Garsten Abbey with Admont Abbey and runs for around 94 kilometres through the impressive landscape of the Enns Valley.
Bavarian-Austrian Marian Way from Altötting to Mariazell. The trail runs right through Upper Austria and connects the Bavarian Marian pilgrimage site of Altötting with Mariazell.

Yes, there are numerous guesthouses, inns and hotels that welcome pilgrims. Some paths, such as the Sebaldusweg, also offer stamping points and pilgrim hostels.

The best time is spring to autumn. In spring the meadows are in bloom, in summer the forests provide shade and in autumn the colourful foliage creates a special atmosphere.

Yes, there are pilgrimage churches, monasteries and places of power along the routes, including St Sebald's Church, the Heiligenstein and the famous Admont Abbey with its baroque library.
Good walking shoes, weatherproof clothing, a water bottle and a small rucksack with snacks. For tours lasting several days, a pilgrim's pass is useful for collecting stamps.
