A wonderful circular route past churches and one of the most impressive castles in Upper Austria.
Via the Stations of the Cross, ascend over the Georgenberg saddle and past the Pröllerbild towards Altpernstein Castle. A detour to the Hirschwaldstein (1,095 m, 50 minutes) is worthwhile, and downhill you pass the Zederbauer Chapel.
Hiking trail: K92
Directions:With the Georgenberg chapel in sight, you walk through the quiet village uphill via the Stations of the Cross. A detour to the church should definitely not be missed – also because of the beautiful view! Then, at a brisk pace, you hike to the Georgenberg saddle. From there, an initially rocky but romantic forest path leads past the Pröllerbild (wayside shrine) towards Altpernstein Castle.
On the forest road, you quickly approach the mighty castle built on steep rocks. From here, it is worthwhile to climb the Hirschwaldstein (1,095 m, 50 minutes), as the entire ascent is safe and easy.
Downhill, you pass the Zederbauer Chapel. Leisurely, you continue past the Reitergut Weißenhof inn to the starting point.
