As early as the end of the 14th century, wood was felled in the forests of the Reichraminger Hintergebirge. The wood was transported by water on the drift paths. It was not until the First World War that a forest railway was built, which led, among other things, from the "Wallerhütte", today's Holzknecht Museum, to the Schallau district.
On the upper floor of the museum, historically valuable brass objects as well as the impressive model of the brass factory Reichraming enrich the museum's exhibition.
An artistic beehive has also been erected in the outdoor area of the museum, which is intended to provide insight into beekeeping practiced by many woodcutters.
Here, visitors also have the opportunity to taste original woodcutter's Nock'n.
