Jäger nativity scene in the Teufelsbach grotto

Steyr, Oberösterreich, Österreich
Hunter's crib at the Teufelsbach
Every year the same and yet every time different.

Smallest Christmas Market in Steyr and open-air nativity scene with life-size figures at the Teufelsbach stream - by the Steyr night shelter for the homeless.

The open-air crèche in the Wehrgraben district, near the museum train station, was founded in 1996 by Siegfried Jäger. After his death, it became the responsibility of the association Wohnen Steyr (emergency shelter) in 2004. Life-size wooden figures are decorated every year at the waterfall. The figures are restored in the day structure "Kraftwerk", lovingly dressed by many helping hands from all departments of the association and completed with faces by the day center. Great importance is attached to traditional elements, but also the creativity of our clients, staff and employees always finds its place in this special crib.
This year there will be an animal surprise almost life-size and a new stable building for our flock of sheep has already been built. In these "redesigns" we place great emphasis on sustainability and upcycling. So a lot of old pallets found a new, valuable task this year.
At our sales booth directly at the Teufelsbach there is the possibility to buy handmade products. The greatest gift for our clients is to know that their lovingly made specialties have found a happy buyer. Our staff will be happy to provide you with information about our work and support opportunities for our association while you enjoy a delicious shepherd's punch and cookies.
