The saddler's craft has become rare.
The saddlery museum in Hofkirchen shows a fully equipped workshop and allows visitors to experience the atmosphere of a craftsman's workshop at first hand. How do saddlers work? What products do they make? How are they trained and what tools do they use? The museum's collection comprises 3,500 objects from more than five centuries of traditional craftsmanship. The specialised library attached to the museum preserves knowledge about the craft of saddlery and other leather-working trades. Those interested can learn old craft techniques in courses.
