Climbing Garden Pfennigsteinmauer

Losenstein, Oberösterreich, Österreich
55 metre high wall with many rewarding routes in the 8th and especially in the 9th degree of difficulty.  Long, flat to slightly overhanging wall climbs, mostly on small ledges, often also short roof sections and multi-pitch routes. In the right part of the wall, numerous new routes have been opened up in recent years.

Best time of day/year
South-facing, in the middle and right wall area very sunny (suitable for winter), in the left wall part deciduous trees (year-round climbing possible). In December sun until about 15:00.

Rock condition
Compact rough limestone, ledge climbing.

Ambience

Quietly situated, impressive wall, sporty rating, mostly comfortable entry area.

Approach
As to the Nußwand and the hiking trail for about 100 metres to the end of the forest. Now, immediately before a ruined high stand, turn right and descend to the junction of a path from the right. Continue downhill keeping to the left, before the left boundary rocks of the Pfennigstein wall turn right again downhill and finally turn left under the wall.

Or already from the pulpit with the left turn of the hiking trail (see access Nußwand) branch off to the right onto an inconspicuous path. This path leads to the path from the high stand.
Walking time from Hackerbauer 15 to 20 minutes.

From Losenstein approx. 2.3 km | approx. 5 minutes travel time

Important notes
A large part of the routes is well over 30 m long, in some cases even over 35 m long. Take special care when lowering! It is essential to use a 70 m, or better still an 80 m rope and make sure that the rope end is tied off correctly!
Accessibility / arrival

Arrival by car:
From Salzburg/Linz: A1 motorway exit Enns-Steyr > B115 into the Enns Valley
From Vienna: A1 motorway exit Haag > B42 > B122 > B115 into the Enns Valley
From Passau: A8 Passau > Wels > A1 motorway exit Enns-Steyr > B115 into the Enns Valley
From Graz: A9 Pyhrnautobahn > motorway exit Klaus > Grünburg > into the Ennstal valley

From Losenstein towards Großraming until the cemetery at the end of the village. Turn left before the cemetery and then right at the next fork. In 2 km you will reach the car park (on the left) at the junction of the access road to the Hackerbauer.

PLEASE park only in the designated parking spaces! A tractor with trailer must always be able to pass!
