At the beginning of your excursion, you must not miss the fantastic view from the bridge in the Steyrdurchbruch into the 40 m deep gorge of the Steyr and to the art nouveau power station. From there, the romantic flower-filled "Prälatenweg" (No. 15) leads to Altpernstein Castle.
Directions:
From the car park, follow marker no. 15 on the gravel road and turn left after a house onto a narrow path that leads over the Tiefengraben into the valley floor. Continue through a flat forest valley to the Oberer Wienerweg district. You then walk along the romantic Prälatenweg to Altpernstein Castle. Return along the same route, but you can also descend to Micheldorf. Return to the starting point by bus.Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
Tip:
Altpernstein Castle has become a landmark of Micheldorf. It was built around the 11th century and shows visitors once-feared castle dungeons, a large knights' hall and the baroque castle chapel with the Pernstein Madonna. The castle is situated on sheer rock faces separated from the mountainside by a deep gorge. The former drawbridge, which was secured by two defence towers, was replaced by a stone bridge. The fortress changed hands many times in the course of its history. Since 1630, the castle has been owned by Kremsmünster Abbey.Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
