Description:
The hike to the Heiligenstein offers a magnificent panoramic view of Gaflenz and the peaks of the Weyrer Bögen (Almkogel, Bodenwies ...), Gesäuseberge and the Haller Mauern, and also leads to a traditional pilgrimage site, the only Sebaldus church in Austria.

Directions:
Starting from the center of Gaflenz, the hiking trail E06 leads to the Heiligenstein via the Kreuzweg and several other trails offer themselves for the Heiligenstein, making different circular hikes possible.

E08 from Lindau via the farm Oberwinkel
E09 from Weyer via the nature trail
Theme trail: At several stations in and around the church, visitors receive information about the history of the mountain shrine, its importance as a place of pilgrimage and the work of St. Sebald.
Today, the so-called "Mesnerhaus" houses the snack station. Guests are treated to regional specialties and homemade pastries on weekends and holidays from May to October.
Tip:
Climate-friendly to the National Park Region - railway station Gaflenz: By train you can reach the starting point for this hike in about 2 hours from Linz and in about 2.5 hours from Vienna.

From Graz: A9 Pyhrnautobahn > motorway exit Klaus > Grünburg > into the Ennstal Valley

The Ennstalbahn runs between Linz and Weißenbach-St. Gallen.
