Alpine region Gesäuse National Park: panoramic mountain bike tour

From Mooslandl you start comfortably on smaller and briefly larger asphalt roads to Hieflau. But this is where it really starts: namely with the long driveway to the Hochscheibenalm. Always over forest roads above the deeply cut Enns in many serpentines to the Alm. The effort will not seem great to you, because distraction is provided: the higher you go, the wider the view over the valley, the wild mountains of the Gesäuse through the whole. At the latest on the long descent from the Alm down to the Enns to Gstatterboden, the famous craggy and steep north faces between Planspitze and Ödstein become increasingly prominent. From Gstatterboden, the idyllic Rauchbodenweg takes you along the Enns to the Weidendom and from there through the deeply cut valley of the Johnsbach up to the idyllic mountaineering village of Johnsbach, the destination of the Trans National Park.
Starting point: Mooslandl
Destination: Johnsbach, the return journey can be made by train from Weißenbach / St. Gallen to Steyr. On Saturday and Sunday there is a train from Johnsbach (Weidendom station) twice a day at 11:08 and 17:08 in 2 hours to Steyr! From the mountaineering village of Johnsbach, the return journey is not a problem on weekends and public holidays: on these days there is even a direct train between Vienna and Selzthal, stopping at Johnsbach station and offering many connection options, including to Steyr. On the other days you have the option of booking a shared taxi to the nearby train stations, or you can cycle to Weißenbach-St. gall. Gesäuse shared taxi T +43 (0)3613 21000 99.
