Starting point: Niglalm - Viehtaleralm/Kleinreifling (47.786356, 14.596415)
Difficult route - only for experienced and athletic hikers
Dream route to the Bodenwies, one of the most beautiful viewpoint mountains in the Ennstal.
Directions:The route starts at the parking lot of the former Viehtaleralm ski area. Across the alpine pasture, it initially climbs up to the Bärenkogel. Then continue flat on the forest road (hiking trail 495) to a junction. Here turn left to the Schüttbauernalm, our path continues on the ridge trail (no. 496). The path then leaves the forest road and climbs somewhat steeper through the forest (keep left along the ridge). At the top, you reach a small plateau with a great panoramic view of the Ennstal Alps.
From here, it goes steeply through the forest towards Bodenwies and then along the ridge towards the summit. The route is very strenuous but rewarded with one of the most beautiful views in the Ennstal. Return follows the same way back to the plateau. Then continue to Schüttbauernalm or back the same way to the starting point.
Tip:Variant: If you stay on the hiking trail and follow the forest road downhill, you will reach the Menaueralm hunting lodge and continue over the Kogel to the Schüttbauernalm - a circular hike back to the Viehtaleralm is possible.
Safety guidelines:Adjust your routes according to the current weather and avalanche reports. Act according to the seasonal dangers in the (alpine) terrain.
