Directions:
The tour starts at the train station in Micheldorf. You start in the direction of the left past the company Cloeren. After about 200m it goes before the last house on the right side in a narrow path to the underpass of the B138. Then turn left and after the right-hand bend continue straight ahead across the old B138, following Burgstraße for about 300m until you reach Franz Stelzhammer Straße. Turn right and pass the Alpenbad Micheldorf until you reach the next street. Here it goes right over a bridge and immediately left up the Grabenstraße. Cross the Mitterweg and at the next fork in the road turn half-right into the ditch into a forest path.

The path runs parallel to the stream bed for about 1 km. There the path divides and goes half-right across the stream up towards Pröller. This path ends at a wide gravelled turning place. Here it goes half right over the highest point down to the Pröller. On the path straight ahead steeply down a forest road is crossed up to the sign Musikersteig. Follow this until you reach a road. Follow this road to the left until you reach a crossroads shortly after the Micheldorf church and the cemetery. Here you can decide whether to take the shorter route to the right to the old federal road B138 or an extension over the Georgiberg (popular destination for bridal couples). Because on the left the road leads to the Georgiberg saddle and on the right to the parking lot of the Georgiberg church. Here it goes left over the Kreuzweg back down to the main road (end of the extension). Here the path continues to the right towards the center of Micheldorf. In front of Cafe Schwarz, turn left over the bridge and then immediately right again along the Krems River to the Sensenschmiede Museum. 150 m after that, turn left and walk along the Pyhrnpass road back to Micheldorf train station.

Equipment:
The required equipment always depends on the particular tour and the weather conditions. Regarding the food: This is very individual and it is recommended to have rather too much than too little with equipment and food. For a 5km round in the valley you need less than for a demanding tour in the mountains. The weather can change quickly and if you are not constantly on the move or need to take a break, for example, warming clothing is of great importance.

We have a general checklist for you here:

  • Weather-appropriate running gear for the season - weather forecast - region - elevation. This includes:

    * a waterproof rain jacket

    * a waterproof rain trousers suitable for running

    * Gloves and warm headgear (hood/headband/towel).

    * sunglasses + sunscreen + headgear for very warm days

  •     Trail running shoes

  • Drinking bottles, softflasks or a hydration bladder with enough liquid for the respective tour (if necessary also salt tablets/magnesium)

  • Snacks for the energy boost in between: Energy bars, gels, chocolate, trail mix,

  • Running backpack: ideally a trail running vest / a trail running backpack or a belly belt for small tours.

  • Drypack: to keep your valuables or change of clothes dry (optionally a small garbage bag).

  • Emergency blanket

  • Small first aid kit. An Israeli bandage is highly recommended: this is a one-handed wound and pressure bandage. Details can be found here.

  • Emergency whistle (often integrated in trail backpacks)

  • Cell phone

  • Maps (online and/or offline)

  • E-card or insurance card

  • Some cash
