Description:
Circuit with a length of 9.4 km and 660 km to the Mollner Hut (1005m).

This manned self-catering hut is located on the Gaisberg in the Upper Austrian Pre-Alps.

Opening hours:

Mid-March to the end of November (except All Saints' Day) the hut is open on Sat, Sun and holidays.

Directions:
The tour starts at the bus stop near the National Park Center in Molln. Pass the church in the center of the village on the right and walk about 1.5 km to the Klausner country inn. Here a path goes down to the main road which we follow keeping to the right. We pass the parking lot of the Piesslinger company and arrive at the Sonnseite district. We follow the signs to Mollner Hütte and after a few hundred meters we reach the parking lot of the Mollner Hütte. From here on the trail goes steadily uphill.

After 300 meters we come to a forest road with the sign "Sepp Mitterhuber Steig". We continue walking, past a hunting lodge (here you can fill up water at a fountain), for about 1.2 km until we reach a pasture, which we walk up, keeping to the right, until we reach the Mollner Hut, which is run by the Nature Friends of Upper Austria. We continue directly under the hut along an initially unmarked path through the forest. However, the path is easily recognizable and we arrive after a nice downhill again on a forest road. To the right about 200 meters, then left over a somewhat hidden path in the forest, over a meadow, we come to the sunny side road, which we run along keeping right pretty much one kilomter. Passing the parking lot of the Piesslinger company again, we walk on the same path back to our starting point at the National Park Center, from where we started.

Tip:
If you are fit enough and have enough time, you can walk up to the Dürre Eck, which increases the distance by about 2 km and about 250 hm.

At the hut there is a beverage depot, which can be used on days when the hut is not open.

Equipment:
The required equipment always depends on the particular tour and the weather conditions. Regarding the food: This is very individual and it is recommended to have rather too much than too little with equipment and food. For a 5km round in the valley you need less than for a demanding tour in the mountains. The weather can change quickly and if you are not constantly on the move or need to take a break, for example, warming clothing is of great importance.
