Description:
A longer and strenuous tour, very varied on the local mountain of the town of Steyr. Located on the municipal border between Molln and Ternberg, this run involves an ascent of 1200 metres over a good 22 kilometres.

Directions:
The tour starts at the bus stop near the National Park Centre in Molln. We walk along the road towards the main road past the Eurospar supermarket. Until we turn right at a junction. A signpost points us in the direction of the Steinköpfl. Shortly afterwards we leave the road and turn into the forest. Steps take us straight up steeply and we reach a signpost "Am Busserlberg" We continue, walk down a short distance and are already on the ascent to the Steinköpfl. A beautiful trail takes us to a marvellous viewpoint of Molln and the beautiful mountain landscape in front of it. A small cross marks the highest point. We continue downhill again past a farmstead onto a road, a little uphill and then downhill again via meadow paths until we reach the Breitenauer Straße, which we follow into the valley until we reach the junction that leads us to the Schoberstein. First steeply up the tarmac road to the last car park. This is the actual start of hiking trail no. 482, a well-trodden but very slippery path that winds its way up for the next few kilometres and crosses the forest road several times. Finally, the forest road leads us directly to the Schobersteinhaus. The summit cross, including a perfect panoramic view, is located behind the house on a small hill. The Schobersteinhaus is a good place to top up your fluids and/or take a short break. The excellent cuisine in the house also invites you to enjoy a delicious meal, which I (and many others, I'm sure) can only recommend. After a short stop, we continue on. We take the forest road again and walk back along it, past trail 482, where we came up, in the direction of Pfaffenboden, until we reach the signpost "Wanderweg Pranzlgrabe". This narrow, beautiful single trail leads us back down into the valley onto Sonnseiten Straße, which we follow to Gradauer Straße. Once there, we head down into the Steyrschlucht gorge. A narrow trail with lots of roots takes us up and down to the Stefaniebrücke bridge, which we pass under. The last ascent takes more energy and then we are already on the last few hundred metres before our starting point at the National Park Centre.

Tip:
The route is south-facing and can therefore get quite warm in summer.Take advantage of the refreshment stop at the Schobersteinhaus.

Equipment:
The required equipment always depends on the particular tour and the weather conditions. Regarding the food: This is very individual and it is recommended to have rather too much than too little with equipment and food. For a 5km round in the valley you need less than for a demanding tour in the mountains. The weather can change quickly and if you are not constantly on the move or need to take a break, for example, warming clothing is of great importance.

We have a general checklist for you here:
