Description:
A slightly longer tour through the Wendbach to the Hohe Dirn. This tour covers 22.2 kilometers and 891 vertical meters.

Directions:
The trail starts at the railway station in Trattenbach. We run along the road to the left, past the large Taschenfeitel and after 1.6 kilometres we reach the entrance to the Wendbach valley. We run slightly uphill along the forest road until we turn left into the forest at kilometre 3.5. A path leads us up to the Hintsteiner farm below the Reitnerkogel. We keep to the right and walk along the Hintsteingraben forest road. At kilometre 6.3, the path then climbs very steeply up a path, where fitness and surefootedness up to the Dirnsteinboden are required. Here we turn right onto the Hohe Dirn. After a few minutes we reach the summit with a summit cross and marvellous views of the Enns Valley. Take the same route back until we reach Dirnsteinboden again, where we now walk down the forest road towards Mösern. At a crossroads we go straight across. A signpost shows us ‘Wendtbach Trattenbach HD8’ Again at a large crossroads we keep right and walk along the road until we come out of the forest at the Hubertus Chapel. We now follow the tarmac Kienbergstraße. At kilometre 19.5, we turn right at Unterpermessner and not left towards Trattenbach. Here, a path branching off to the left leads us down to the Goldgrub main road, which we were already walking on at the start. From here it is not far to our starting point.

Equipment:
The required equipment always depends on the particular tour and the weather conditions. Regarding the food: This is very individual and it is recommended to have rather too much than too little with equipment and food. For a 5km round in the valley you need less than for a demanding tour in the mountains. The weather can change quickly and if you are not constantly on the move or need to take a break, for example, warming clothing is of great importance.

We have a general checklist for you here:

weather-appropriate running gear for the season - weather forecast - region - elevation. This includes: * a waterproof rain jacket * a waterproof rain trousers suitable for running * Gloves and warm headgear (hood/headband/towel). * sunglasses + sunscreen + headgear for very warm days
