The Alpineum, as a modern, award-winning exhibition house, is worth a visit at any time of the year.
Here you will find background information about the history of the Stodertal, the life-threatening work of the woodcutters, the alpine exploration history of the Totes Gebirge, and the development of skiing from its beginnings to the World Cup.
The modern museum building – constructed in 1998 – suggests from the outside that no dusty "local museum" awaits visitors, but rather historical and current videos and acoustic effects. Establishing connections from the past to the present is the fundamental concept of the Alpineum with its extensive collection of historical and contemporary exhibits. In an entertaining manner, the past comes alive through captivating text and image design, providing an experience for visitors. Prepare to be surprised.
The Alpineum was also named one of the best exhibition venues in Europe at the "Museum of the Year Award 2000." In addition to the permanent exhibition, the Alpineum continually surprises with successful special exhibitions on a wide range of topics.
