Well-known climbing route with some cracks, intersections and slabs. Climbs of the Pfennigstein have been documented since the beginning of the 20th century. First field of activity of the free climbing movement in the early eighties. The difficult routes require good climbing technique in not entirely vertical terrain. The rock has been very carefully restored by Josef Gstöttenmayr, completely equipped with pitons and pulleys. The previously common dismounting to the summit cross and the subsequent abseil between the two north cracks is no longer necessary. Due to the renovation, some routes have been slightly changed and some routes have been added.
