Climate-friendly to the most beautiful tours in the National Park region
You can reach the starting point for many hikes in the Kalkalpen National Park region in a short time by public transport. As soon as you arrive, you can enjoy the magnificent mountain scenery, the view of the Enns and Steyr rivers and get in the mood for your day.
After Steyr and into the Enns Valley, you leave the Westbahn line in St. Valentin. The Ennstal railway runs between Linz and Weißenbach-St. Gallen. There are railway stations in Ternberg, Trattenbach, Losenstein, Reichraming, Großraming, Küpfern, Kastenreith, Kleinreifling and Weißenbach-St. Gallen. Tip: You can also reach the National Park region and the Enns Valley from Amstetten via Waidhofen/Ybbs. There are railway stations in Oberland, Gaflenz, Weyer and Kastenreith.
When travelling from Steyr to the Enns Valley, you are surrounded by a hiking paradise from the Damberg near St. Ulrich to the Weyrer Bögen and the Bodenwies in Unterlaussa.
The Steyr Valley is served by bus route 452 from Rohr and Bad Hall to Steinbach an der Steyr and by bus route 433 from Steyr to Molln and Kirchdorf. From the bus you can see the green Steyr with its conglomerate gorges, the gentle hills and mountains and the Großer and Kleiner Landsberg.
From May to October and during the Christmas period, lovers of old steam trains are offered something special: Austria's oldest 760 mm narrow-gauge railway connects the romantic town of Steyr with the villages of Grünburg and Steinbach an der Steyr along the 17-kilometre route.
You can travel to Kremstal from Linz on the Pyhrnbahn railway via Neuhofen an der Krems and Kremsmünster in the direction of Spital am Pyhrn and Selzthal. There are stops in Schlierbach, Kirchdorf an der Krems, Micheldorf and Klaus. Schlierbach Abbey, the Grillenparz, Altpernstein Castle, the Steyrer Gorge and the Klaus reservoir are just as impressive as the imposing Kremsmauer with its challenging hiking opportunities. On enjoyable, eventful hikes for the whole family, you will learn interesting facts about cheese, chocolate, cider, honey and coffee. You can also dedicate yourself to the topic of barbecuing.
Leave your car at home for a stress-free and carefree journey to the Kalkalpen National Park region. If we take the train and bus, the trip will be environmentally friendly and climate-friendly, making it even more relaxing and restful.
The journey by public transport to the Kalkalpen National Park region can be organised completely flexibly - with breaks in between or different departure and return destinations. The OÖVV leisure ticket allows you to use public transport throughout Upper Austria. For € 24.90, up to two adults and up to four children under the age of 15 can use all city lines, regional buses and local and regional trains (S-Bahn, regional train, Regional Express) in Upper Austria for a whole day.
