- The Whole Year Round
On the occasion of the St. Ulrich Culture Days in 1977, the municipality of St. Ulrich bei Steyr erected Austria's first peace monument. Building blocks came from 70 countries around the world. A four and a half meter high, narrow column was erected. All the stones were cast into it, so that the semicircular inner wall shows the face of the stones.
"Peace" is the moral theme of the peace community of St. Ulrich. Thus, the village center is also characterized by the peace monument and the Thaddäus Steinmayr peace path.
Two village centers, Ortisei and Kleinraming, largely determine life in a magnificent landscape cultivated by hardworking farmers. The slopes of the Damberg (809 m), south of the old iron town of Steyr, invite you to go hiking and mountain biking. From the Laurenzi Chapel and the Dambergwarte, the view sweeps far into the countryside. Once the visitor has escaped the hustle and bustle of the city, he suddenly finds himself in a quiet and harmonious landscape. The circular hiking trail St. Ulrich bei Steyr & Garsten stretches from the power station along the reservoir to the Landhotel Eckhard (1.9 km).
