Fishing at the Klaus reservoir

The Klaus reservoir. Covering an area of 98 ha, it is up to 40 metres deep in some places. The reservoir is beautifully situated between steep conglomerate walls - a scenic gem in the upper Steyr Valley!

The leading fish in the Klaus reservoir is the brown trout, which thrives very well here. The heaviest trout caught weighed 13.5 kg. Rainbow trout and brown trout can also be found sporadically. The grayling stock is in exceptionally good condition. The bullhead is present in all waters. In addition to the above-mentioned fish species, lake trout and sporadic pike are also found in the Klaus reservoir. However, the latter is kept short by means of net fishing by the managers. Fortunately, there are sufficient populations of forage fish for the salmonids, namely bullhead and minnow.
