The "Neue Kasten" in Großreifling has been home to the Austrian Forestry Museum "Silvanum" since 1979. The building was built in the 18th century by the Innerberger Hauptgewerkschaft as a granary. Visitors can learn about the diverse history of forestry on four exhibition levels. The timber transportation by land with hand-drawn sledges and carts, heavy wagons and forest railroads, giant paths and the use of ropes are vividly presented. Visitors to the museum are also fascinated by the exhibition on water as a traditional means of transportation for driving, floating and rafting. There is also plenty for children to do: National Park 3D cinema, interactive sledges and raft rides, exciting kindergarten and school class tours or forest and project days.
