After the Petermühle guesthouse, turn right onto the Grabentalweg, go left up to the Grabental farmhouse and continue to the Schiefersteinweg. Along the Nagelschmiedweg, many remnants from olden days recall the time when nails still had to be hand-forged and were therefore among the valuable goods of that era. The faithfully renovated building of the Brandstätter Hammer was formerly a mill, a bar hammer, and a nail smithy. Today, guests big and small forge their own nails on the anvil. The Nagelschmied museum tells the myth of the smith, familiarizes visitors with the function of the nail as a connecting element, and shows the world’s largest collection of hand-forged nails.
