This 14.0 km long route with 539 meters of elevation gain is suitable for runners who like to run on forest trails without technical difficulties.
The starting point is Bahnhof Großraming, here we walk up the street to the left. A signpost shows us the direction to Rotstein. It goes briskly uphill, passing houses we soon reach hiking trail 492, which leads us towards Rotstein. With a splendid view of Oberplaiß we reach the paved Rotsteinbichlstraße exactly after 5 km, which we follow to the Bamacher parking lot. Here you can extend the route via the Ennser Hut, but we stay on the forest road and turn right at km 6.3. On lonely, rarely used forest roads it goes up and down until the Tomaseben, a clearing with a beautiful, unmanaged alpine hut. Further on we continue downhill on the forest road towards Lumplgraben. At km 12.2 we reach the main road, which leads us back to the starting point at the station.
Equipment:The required equipment always depends on the respective route and the weather conditions. Regarding food: this is very individual, and it is advisable to have more rather than less equipment and provisions. A 5 km round in the valley requires less than a demanding route in the mountains. The weather can change quickly, and if you are not constantly moving or need to take a break, warming clothing is very important, for example.
