Description:

A route that leads from the Losenstein indoor pool mostly on meadow and forest paths. Along the way, views of Losenstein and the castle, the gentle rolling landscape, and the mountains of the Hintergebirge invite you to linger.

Directions:

From the parking lot of the indoor pool in Losenstein, go up some stairs to the rural youth center. At the intersection, keep left and follow the slightly ascending paved road for about ten minutes up to the Riegl farm. There, the road makes a right turn. Here, the hiking trail E74/4 branches off right towards Hutterberg – Fatima chapel via the Ramlerhöhe. The path leads steadily uphill over a meadow path.

After a short walk, you reach another farm. From there, continue a few meters on a paved road until a forestry road branches off uphill to the left at the next farm. Follow this forestry road past a transmitter to a house just below the Mostbrunnen. From here begins the last ascent: a meadow path leads right up to the Lichterkreuz and the Mostbrunnen.

Then it goes downhill to the Fatima chapel. First, it goes across the meadow and a short forest path that finally meets the forestry road again. Follow this road downhill to the right until you reach an intersection where the forestry road leads back right to Losenstein. There you can make a short detour to the Fatima chapel. Then follow the forestry road to a paved road and turn left. It passes several farms and meadows and eventually enters a forest area. At the end of the forest, a tractor path branches off to the left, which can shorten the descent a bit. It meets the road above the rural youth center again. Follow it down the stairs to the starting point.

Tip:

Detour to the Fatima chapel and possibly also to the castle ruins on the way back.

At the Losenstein indoor pool you can stop at the pool restaurant and also swim a few rounds.

Another dining option is at the Marxrieser inn.
