Access
To the 1st tower:
From the Klausriegler car park, take the goods road 400m back to the bridge in the left-hand bend. Follow the tractor track across the pasture to the edge of the forest and continue through the forest (partly pathless) to the base of the first tower (red dot). Over the stem in easy climbing to the access points (see sketch).
To the 2nd tower:
The normal route up the Kreuzmauer begins at the farmhouse to the east of the Kreuzmauer. Follow this for approx. 300 metres until the path turns sharply uphill to the right. Continue straight ahead here and follow the climbing tracks to the access points at the foot of the 2nd tower (see sketch).
Rock composition
Compact slab limestone with ledge, friction and crack climbing, technically extremely demanding. Extremely exposed climbing on the 3rd tower over several huge overhanging roofs.
Ambience
Somewhat "alpine" ambience with partly uncomfortable, fall-endangering access areas and approach to the routes via scree or other routes. Completely unsuitable with children. Perfect for lovers of well-secured multi-pitch routes. From the summit of the Kreuzmauer you can enjoy a fantastic view at the end of the climbing day.
Distance
Approx. 6.5 km, from Ternberg/ 15 minutes' drive.
Important notes
There are only a few parking spaces in the area of the Hubertus Chapel east of the Kreuzmauer, which often have to be shared with hikers or bikers. Be sure to park in a space-saving way! The car park on the west side of the Kreuzmauer (access to the 1st tower) at GH Klausriegler is subject to a charge. The fee will be refunded if you eat at the inn (highly recommended!).
