Climbing Rock Weißensteinerwand
Right next to the via ferrata Beisteinmauer, there is also a climbing rock with several sectors. It offers 69 routes in all difficulty levels, from short bouldering problems to a 35 m endurance route. The diverse routes and the extremely short approach of about 1 minute made the Weißensteinerwand instantly popular.
Routes
72 routes from 3 to 10+ (6 – 35 meters), route names are written down
Orientation, Best time of day/year
Southwest, spring and autumn, often too hot in summer, shady in mid-winter.
Rock characteristics
Climbing on the Weißensteiner wall is very attractive and varied, featuring ledges, slabs, cracks, and overlaps sprinkled with some overhangs in predominantly solid limestone.
Ambiance
The southwest orientation and location in a light mixed deciduous forest with pleasant base terrain create an exceedingly friendly impression. However, due to the heavy use of the adjacent climbing routes, the wall is not suitable for those seeking solitude.
Children
Nice forest playground at the foot of the wall. The forestry road is within calling and visual range and within baby distance.
Important notes
Above the right part of the wall are the beautifully arranged Via ferratas of the Beisteinmauer. Although the via ferrata leads through compact rock, there can always be rockfall from climbers. Therefore, wearing a helmet is strongly recommended here.
The Mitterhumer family, owners of the parking lot and parts of the Beistein, look forward to your visit at the Mostheurigen right by the parking lot.
From Ternberg, over the Enns and into the Trattenbachtal. Follow this upstream and take the first turn left towards GH Klausriegler (signposted as climbing center). About 900m after the turn, turn left into the large, paid parking lot directly below the wall.
Approximately 4.9 km from Ternberg / 7 minutes driving time
Free parking at Trattenbach train station - walking time about 15 minutes on foot
Approach
From the parking lot, head back, past the turn-off to the via ferratas, until you reach the gate of the forestry road. From here, go diagonally up to the right in 1 - 3 minutes to the entrances of the clearly visible wall.
Best season: March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October
