A sporting challenge for trained people. A real mountain tour is on the programme today and of course this includes a mountain bike - after all, this is a classic in alpine terrain! The outward and return journeys are identical with No. 7 "Messererweg", i.e. we ride via Waldneukirchen/Grünburg to the Steyr bridge at the Haunoldmühle - from there on asphalt for about three kilometres to the turn-off to the left into the Dorngraben, where the 8.5 km/650 m uphill awaits. Another stretch of tarmac, then gravel, as it should be, the end for public vehicle traffic is just around the corner and the route continues quickly along a typical, unsecured forest road. A few flat sections bring relaxation, and from the Pfaffenboden Pfaffenboden the view becomes clearer and under the slopes of the Hochbuchberg we make the last few metres to the idyllic hut, which has become a popular meeting place for bikers. At 1100 metres above sea level, the snack tastes good, the warm meadow slope is a good place to rest with a tremendous view before the downhill challenges the suspension and brakes ... but please be careful - authorised vehicles and hikers are also on the road, the road is not a race track! Return either on no. 7 via Steinbach or a four-kilometre shorter analogue route via Grünburg ... that's it, Berg Heil!
