Nestled in a wide valley basin, Ternberg is the gateway to the romantic Enns Valley and the Kalkalpen National Park. Only about 12 kilometres from Steyr, it is a wonderful place to stroll through meadows and forests. Ternberg is also home to the world-famous Trattenbacher Taschenfeitel.
Hiking trails, cycle routes and sports activities such as paragliding, climbing and archery provide great, varied experiences in wonderful surroundings. In the leisure complex, lane golf, a beach volleyball court, a pump track and the solar-heated outdoor pool offer unadulterated holiday fun.
The nature and leisure activities on offer in the surrounding regions of Ennstal, Steyrtal, the Kalkalpen National Park and not least the nearby romantic town of Steyr make a stay at the "Gateway to the National Park" a soothing, eventful time out for body, mind and soul.
Nothing stands in the way of public transport either, Ternberg and Trattenbach are easily accessible by bus and train.
In Trattenbach - in the Valley of the Knife Makers - a 1.5 km long themed trail takes you into the world of the almost 600-year-old tradition of knife making. In 2015, the Austrian UNESCO Commission recognised the "Trattenbacher Taschenfeitel production" as intangible cultural heritage.
Archery, outdoor pool, paragliding, climbing, pump track or a leisurely ride on the floating alpine hut on the Enns - a varied leisure programme is guaranteed!
The first weekend in July has a very special significance in the region: we have been celebrating the market festival in Ternberg since 1985!
Every year, many people from Ternberg come up with something new to delight the public with a colourful mix of big and small attractions.
Nestled in a wide valley basin, Ternberg is the gateway to the Enns Valley and the Kalkalpen National Park.
An impressive climbing centre was built here 10 years ago.
The Trattenbach climbing centre, initiated by Naturfreunde Ternberg-Trattenbach, consists of the climbing routes on the Beisteinmauer wall and the Weißensteinerwand climbing crag.
The abundance of climbing routes in one spot and the magnificent view of the Enns Valley from the summit of the Beisteinmauer (632m) are impressive.
